$29, Philadelphia Zoo, Fairmount Park, Philly
I'm back in PA for T'giving, and tonight Catie and I are headed to the Philly Zoo for their annual LumiNature, where they light up all the trees, hide the animals in mysterious back rooms, and hire struggling/thriving actors to become illuminated animal-inspired fursonas, like some kind of child-friendly Burning Man at night.
Geistlist regular Yannick Trapman O’Brian is apparently embodying some kind of moonshoe-powered kangaroo-like animal, so we will be searching for him. He doesn't know we're coming (until he reads this), but hopefully he is there tonight. If not, they have overpriced spiked hot chocolate and other people becoming other animals.
If you're there, say hi & then leave us alone.
free, Wonderville, Bushwich, NYC or on the internet
Bring some tapes or just hang out.
The last Monday in December is Christmas, but I'll be hosting a special obscure cinema evening on Tuesday, December 26 instead. Details TK, but here's a hint: it's a tradition.
Then, in 2024, OVCRN is switching to Last Monday of every other month, starting February. It is likely a long slow brutally painful sunsetting goodbye. (Jk, it's jus that I'm ready to retire—if you'd like to inherit the empire, please send in your résumé on the back of a $20 bill.)

I think I met Cally at Nublu two weeks ago and I put this on my "potentially go to" calendar? The calendar event has the following in the Notes field:
Text (848) COM-MENT ¹
If you go: please tell me how it was. If you're Cally: I'm sorry—please remind me who you are; I hope your show tomorrow goes well.
A few weeks back was a big fundraiser in an abandoned Hasidic middle school for a little art gallery in a subway station newsstand lovingly and newdealingly called Public Works Administration. There I discovered Jakob Sitter, who is a real artist who gave up, and handed over his online life to us. Become Jakob now.
I take credit for (at last count) his second most successful work.
The best Christmas song is Jars of Clay’s take on Drummer Boy, but the best Christmas concert of all time was the final songs & finale of the David Crowder*Band farewell tour. Unfortunately, if I recall correctly, they hit the Electric Factory (R.I.P.) in Philly around fall, and weren't yet ending with the Christmas set. Fortunately, it was recorded; start at track 6 and play through the end. If you know which arena(s) these three were recorded at, please do let me know.
I will be in Paris November 29 – December 5, because American Airlines accidentally made round tickets $200 for a few days in July. No real plans, so if you know of anything Geistlist-flavored happening, have a hookup, or happen to be there yourself: let me know.
Sad I'll be missing a ton of design studio & art gallery holiday parties in NYC which are usually my jam, so please get me invited to any & all of those types of things happening in Expat Paris.
Expect a Geistlist issue circa Dec 1 with approximately 1–2 splendid NYC happenings every night for a week, all of which you should attend in my stead. Especially a very personally touching thing happening in Prospect Park on December 2 in the afternoon.
Stay reading, and send this along to your friends, enemies, and Parisians.
¹ I'm not actually posting this person/place/thing's number, the origin of which I entirely forget! But if you do text (848) COM-MENT on Saturday night, your text will be forwarded appropriately.
