Dead Media Month

Geistlist

A lot of physical media I worked on is suddenly materializing. Collect them all.

¶. Stereogram (Friday 7pm)

The City Reliquary, Williamsburg, NYC, $25

Hosted by Stephen Colbert’s former producer, with me slinging beers. 2 tickets left.

¶. Compact Disc (Saturday 4pm & 8pm)

Windjammer, Bushwick, NYC, $22 (4pm / 8pm)

I did typography design and print production for LAMINARA’s first CD release, and will be selling them at 4pm (under 21 friendly) and 8pm shows.

¶. Video Home Cassette (Monday 7pm)

Wonderville, Bushwick, NYC, free

You know the drill by now.

¶. 2010’s Party Mix Vol. 4 (Wednesday 8pm)

Bridge & Tunnel Brewery, Ridgewood, NYC, free

I said yes to hosting musical bingo from “xtremebingo.com.” Please come. I’ve just discovered it’s currently illegal to play bingo if you’re under 18 in NY, so that’s a type of dead media.

¶. theawl.com (Saturday November 1, 7pm)

Village Works, East Village, NYC, free

Books are not dead media, but the subject of this book is. Celebrate The Awl: The Book (designed by me) and hang out with your favorite writers and readers from The Awl (RIP) and Flaming Hydra (alive & well). Preorder with your RSVP for $5 off.

∞. Sleep No More (next 2 weekends + ?)

The Old McKitrick Hotel, Chelsea, NYC, $91+

I had a chance to explore the former home of Sleep No More, somehow even more of a cerebral disorientation trip with all the emergency lights on. The place will reopen this weekend as something else, with something new inside.

If you go, look for the devil serving absinthe. I painted his Venetian green wall—there’s a tiny monogram of mine toward the bottom right. Tell no one.

Before it was Sleep No More it was Twilo. I’m looking for more photos of Twilo to match up with rooms if you have or find any.
