Geistlist Geistlist

Hey thou,

Did you know you is actually the formal second person pronoun in English? Thou is the informal. Old Christians liked to use it to emphasize their brotherhood and ahierarchy among each other. We just think of it as formal now because of them, because they were long ago, and we falsely assume that long ago everyone was more formal.

This is Geistlist, the periodic dispatch from Jacob Ford. Most likely we met somewhere or you found me on the internet. You are welcome here.

¶. Tonight 7–10pm: Open VCR Night

Wonderville, Bushwick, NYC & on your phone, free

Rumor is some mysterious Boards of Canada VHSs are circulating, and I would appreciate if the psyslop team behind this would come by tonight and give me one.

¶. Wednesday 6:45pm: Alphabet in Motion

telos.haus, East Williamsburg, NYC, $10

Come hang out with my pal Kelli, architect of probably the world’s most complex mass-produced pop-up book. I’ll also bring some show and tell for while she’s busy signing the books you buy.

¶. Thursday – Sunday: Rare Book Fair

Park Avenue Armory, Upper East Side, NYC, free if you email a bookseller

Always a blast, usually there’s a few first-edition Origins of Species floating around you can hold if you ask nicely (and ask how if you don’t know), plus my dream socialist Christian globe of Martian infrastructure (Christmas list?) and possibly a Champfleury (birthday?). I’ll be there Thursday.

Also Eric Andre’s roller disco birthday and an AI Psychosis thing at 93 Canal, may be a busy night.

¶. May 1–5: …in LA

The new LACMA preview, Museum of Jurassic Technology, Kara Walker sculptures, the tar pits, The Huntington, etc.

I’m finally going to LA. Tell me anything worthwhile or strange.

¶. May 9 10am–5pm: board a reconstructed Viking ship

Owl’s Head Park, Sunset Park, NYC, free

Find the Viking ship and bellow “hail children of Odin” at the ladder, to one of the Vikings. They will let you on. While there, see if you can find these trees for $5,000.

¶. May 13 7–8pm: Alex Eubanks

8ball Radio, internet radio, free

I will be a guest on Alex Eubanks’s fortnightly Ephemera radio hour, on going to things and meeting people.

¶. June 6: Miss Subways

Freak Show Theater, Coney Island, NYC, free if you run

We’re seeking the next Miss Subways. Could it be you?

⁋. Last Friday: Panorama Challenge
