Infinite Jest turned 30 last month. Want to finally read it with me and a bunch of other wastoids?
¶. 7pm – ?am: Closed VCR Night
The FORT90 Emergency Broadcast System, free
We’re finally getting a proper winter here, and as such the typical host of my last-monday-of-every-even-month Open VCR Night is closed. In lieu, my pal FORT90 and I will be streaming found footage all night, and this time you cannot eject. My baby video may show up.
¶. Today – November 23: IJXXX Read Along
wallace-l, free
Wallace-L is the world’s best listserv, and we are celebrating the 30th anniversary of Infinite Jest by reading it together, starting today. You only have to get to page 10 this week.¹
Once you join, email me for the orientation and schedule.
¶. Through March: The COVID Material Culture Museum
The City Reliquary, Williamsburg, NYC, $10
My exhibition has been extended. It’s in the front room before the admission counter, so you can technically see it free.
∞. The DOT is Following Me
Every month the NYC Department of Transportation issues a limited reproduction run of a notable street sign, and the last two have oddly followed my last two addresses. Luckily I missed them both, because I am presently on a zero-dollar budget. Still, I am excited next month to discover my next move.
¹ I’ll be supplementing the schedule with audiobook timestamps soon.
